Tenant turned out to be murder of woman, her three kids in Karachi’s Surjani Town

The police in Karachi have arrested the main accused in connection with the gruesome murder of a woman and her three children in Surjani Town a few days ago, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Accused Humayun was a tenant of the deceased woman who had development a relationship with her.

The woman and her three children were bludgeoned to death in their Surjani Town home on Monday evening.  All four victims sustained blows to the head with a sharp-edged object.

Police had initially detained the woman’s husband for questioning. However, police have now arrested the main accused in connection with the killings.

Police sources said the detained suspect had previously been a tenant of the woman some time ago and used to visit her often. He had development friendship with the woman but murdered her and her children after seeing someone else’s message on her phone, said sources in the police investigation team.

On the day of the murders, the accused was present inside the woman’s house, but someone’s text message on woman’s mobile phone triggered him which let to a scuffle between the two.

The accused said that the woman tried to strangulate him after which he got hold of an iron rod and hit the woman in the head.

In the meanwhile, the children who were given an intoxicated drink started to wake up. The accused also murdered them with a shar-edged weapon as they recognized him very well, the sources added.

The sources further revealed that the murder weapon has also been recovered from the accused, and further interrogation was under way.

The four victims — Mehwish Danish, 34, Hasnain, 6, Mirha, 8 and Ashmeera, 3, — were laid to rest at a local graveyard amid moving scenes the next day after their murder.

Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed had said that the post-mortem examinations of the deceased persons were carried out at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and doctors found “multiple injuries on head”.

She said it appeared that the mother had been killed with hard and blunt instruments, such as an iron rod or stick, while the children succumbed to fatal head injuries caused by impact with a hard surface.

On Tuesday, a case was registered on the complaint of Muhammad Yameen, the grandfather of the children, under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unknown persons.
