Patients’ families and visitors have expressed concerns over undue hike in parking fee being collected at District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital Rawalpindi.
Talking to 24NewsHD TV Channel, patients claimed that parking contractor was charging a minimum Rs50 for motorcycles and Rs100 for cars.
Moreover, after midnight, the parking fee for cars are raised to Rs200, while motorcyclists are charged between Rs100 and Rs150. Patients arriving from rural areas are reportedly charged more than double.
Dr. Ikram Ullah Khan, Medical Superintendent, DHQ Hospital told media that parking lot contractor was previously fined Rs50,000 for overcharging against the prescribed parking fees.
MS Dr Ikram Ullah further said that the contractor has already been issued a final warning and if patients allegations proved true, the contract of the parking lot will be handed over to another contractor after termination of his contract.
