The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday issued the schedule for by-election in the PP-52 constituency in Sialkot.
The PP-52 seat fell vacant after the death of MPA Chaudhry Arshad Javed Warraich of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The returning officer will put on display a public notice on April 22 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on April 30. Decision on acceptance or rejection of nomination papers will be announced on May 3 and contesting candidates will be allotted election symbols on May 13 and voting will be held on June 1.
According to the ECP data, late Arshad Javaid had obtained 58,385 votes in February 8, 2024, general elections. He defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Fakhir Nishat Ghumman who secured 49,850 votes.
Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Zulqarnain Langarial will be overseeing the by-election as district returning officer and ADCR Muhammad Iqbal as returning officer.
