Former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Saturday welcomed the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran, terming them a positive development for regional peace.

Speaking to the media in Swabi, he said that such diplomatic efforts are encouraging and added that similar dialogue should be initiated with Pakistan’s neighbouring countries to promote stability in the region.

Asad Qaiser stated that his party had postponed a scheduled public meeting in Rawalpindi in light of the ongoing talks, emphasizing that they did not want the government to use any excuse to target or blame PTI.

He said that the planned public gathering is not only aimed at seeking the release of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan but also represents the voice of all oppressed segments of society.

Highlighting economic concerns, he said farmers from across the country, including Punjab, are facing severe challenges due to rising inflation, while the working class is under significant financial pressure.

“We must stand against injustice, and all segments of society need to come together,” he said.

Asad Qaiser also rejected what he called false media reports claiming a suicide attack on him, stating that certain elements were attempting to derail their political rally through propaganda and misinformation.
