Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani on Saturday had a consultative meeting with representatives of Karachi’s business community, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive economic policymaking.

Addressing participants, the minister acknowledged the vital role of the business community in driving the national economy and assured that their proposals would be incorporated into the upcoming federal budget.

He emphasized that close cooperation with the private sector remains a top priority for the government, adding that Pakistan has achieved economic stability over the past two years through consistent policy efforts.

Kayani said preparations are underway for tax reforms and relief measures aimed at easing the burden on both businesses and the public. He noted that steps have been taken to shield the economy from the impact of global inflation.

Highlighting structural reforms, the minister said that under the National Tariff Policy, the customs system is being simplified by 2030. He also pointed to ongoing digital reforms within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to enhance transparency and efficiency.

The minister further revealed that the government is considering expanding the scope of the Roshan Digital Account to include foreign companies, a move aimed at boosting investment inflows.

He assured stakeholders that net metering agreements would remain fully protected, addressing concerns from the business community.

Kayani concluded by reiterating that continuous consultation with the private sector will be maintained to ensure sustainable economic development in the country.
