Unidentified criminals set fire to a standing wheat crop in Sahiwal district, destroying nearly 9.5 acres of cultivated land and causing losses worth millions of rupees, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to police officials, the incident occurred in the village of 63/4-R, Nawaban Wali village, located on the outskirts of Sahiwal, where the blaze reduced the ready-to-harvest crop to ashes within a short span of time.
The owner of the land, Muhammad Arshad estimated the financial loss at approximately Rs3.5 million, alleging that the fire was deliberately set.
“This was not an accident; someone intentionally torched the crop,” he said.
Police from the Noor Shah Police Station collected evidence and registered a case against unidentified suspects.
They said an investigation is underway and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
