Dr Gul Lalah, a lecturer at Poonch University, was swept away along with her car near Tarar Campus, Rawalakot, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
According to officials, Dr Lalah’s vehicle became stuck as the water level surged near Poonch University's Tarar Campus, and the powerful current dragged both the car and the driver downstream.
The lecturer, a resident of Khadak, a suburban area of Rawalakot, could not be traced immediately after the accident.
Rescue teams, supported by local authorities, have launched an extensive search operation to recover the missing academic.
However, officials noted that strong currents and rising water levels are making rescue efforts increasingly difficult.
Meanwhile, in Athmuqam (capital of Neelum Valley), another tragic accident occurred when a car plunged into the Neelum River, killing at least five people on board.
Police confirmed that the accident was caused by slippery roads and low visibility during heavy rainfall.
