A fire broke out in the basement of a triple-storey plaza housing a United Bank Limited (UBL) branch and a gym on Sheikhupura Road in the Gutwala area of Faisalabad on Tuesday, reported 24News HD channel.
According to reports, the building was immediately evacuated, with the bank and gym staff were safely taken outside.
Rescue 1122 personnel said its fire-fighting and rescue teams reached the spot soon after receiving the emergency call and began efforts to control the blaze.
Initial information suggested that a wooden structure used in sofas in the bank’s basement caught fire for unknown reasons. However, another report indicated that the fire may have been caused by a short-circuit in a transformer.
The blaze affected an area of around 10 marlas. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident.
Rescue teams continued their operation to completely extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of the building.
