Pakistan’s over-60 team defeated hosts Canada by five wickets in their fourth match of the IMC Over-60 World Cup being played in Mississauga, Canada, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
Asked to bat first, Canada scored 201 for seven in 45 overs, with captain Graham Castanheiro leading the way with a century.
He scored 107 off 118 balls, hitting eight fours. Farooq Kirmani contributed 22, while Kenny Girdhari remained unbeaten on 17.
For Pakistan, Syed Zafar Ali took three wickets, while Mahfoozullah Khan claimed two.
Jaffer Qureshi and Sagheer Abbas took one wicket each.
Pakistan chased down the target in 37.3 overs for the loss of five wickets.
Sajid Ali scored 62, and Mazhar Hussain made 60, putting on a century partnership for the opening wicket.
Muhammad Ashraf Pakhali added 30, while Sagheer Abbas remained unbeaten on 39 to complete the successful chase.
Graham Castanheiro took two wickets for Canada, while Suresh Nair, Mukesh Narola and Kenny Girdhari claimed one wicket each.
Despite Canada’s defeat, Castanheiro was named Player of the Match for his impressive all-round performance.
In other matches, South Africa beat Sri Lanka, Australia defeated the IMC Emerging XI, Scotland overcame West Indies, England beat India, and New Zealand defeated the USA.
