Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, on Wednesday visited the Sessions Court Hyderabad and inaugurated eight newly constructed court blocks aimed at improving judicial infrastructure and access to justice.
During the visit, the Chief Justice also inaugurated a new waiting area for women litigants at the Civil Court and formally launched a digital cause list system to enhance transparency and efficiency in court proceedings.
An event was organised by the High Court Bar Association, Hyderabad, in honor of Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput. Members of the legal fraternity, district judges and senior lawyers attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Rajput said he had started his legal practice from Hyderabad, calling it his “mother bar,” and termed it an honour to address both senior and junior members of the legal community there.
He urged junior lawyers to make respect for seniors a lifelong principle and emphasised that lawyers play a vital role as protectors of the law and guardians of judicial independence. “Our black coat and black tie are a sacred trust. If this trust is compromised, public confidence in justice will be shaken,” he said.
The Chief Justice stressed that lawyers must promote social justice and uphold ethical standards, advising them never to mislead clients or offer illegal advice. “A lawyer’s status in society is that of a trusted legal advisor,” he added.
Justice Rajput expressed hope that future leaders of the judiciary and legal profession would emerge from among the young lawyers of Hyderabad, recalling eminent jurists such as Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Ghulam Rabbani and Abdul Rasool Memon as role models.
