Opposition members of the Punjab Assembly on Thursday submitted a condemnation resolution over an incident involving a Muslim woman in India, calling out Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his actions, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.
The resolution, presented by members Waqas Mahmood Mann, Ashfa Riaz, and Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi, denounced what it described as the “shameless, vile racism” of the Indian chief minister for removing the veil of a Muslim girl at a public function.
According to the resolution, the act reflects an inhuman and immoral attitude towards minorities in India, questioning the country’s claim of being a secular state.
It added that the incident highlights the insecurity faced by minorities and their lack of freedom to practice religion without interference.
The Punjab Assembly further recommended that international organizations should demand the resignation of Nitish Kumar and called for him to issue a public apology to the affected woman through international media for his “immoral act.”
