Flowers and bouquets were placed outside the Rawalpindi Commission Office. Former Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha stepped down after accepting responsibility for "rigging" in the February 8 election.

" We converted the losers into winners, reversing margins of 70,000/80,0000 votes in 13 National Assembly seats," he told the media at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

"I and the election commissioner should be penalized over rigging. I surrender to the police,” he added.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) refuted the allegations and issued a statement announcing a comprehensive inquiry would be launched soon.
