Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting is underway in Peshawar to sight the moon of the holy month of Ramazan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to the spokesman for the SUPARCO, the moon’s birth has taken place, and it will be 25 hours and 48 minutes old at sunset today.

In this regard, the final announcement will be made by Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.

Several countries — including United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar —officially announced on Tuesday that the holy month will begin on Wednesday, February 18, following verified sightings of the Ramadan crescent moon.

Authorities in the UAE confirmed the start of Ramadan after traditional moon-sighting procedures were conducted and verified by religious and astronomical committees. Residents across the country are now preparing to observe a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia declared that Ramadan will commence on February 18 after religious authorities confirmed the crescent sighting through established observation methods.

Qatar also announced Wednesday, February 18, as the first day of Ramadan following local moon sightings and verification by its religious and astronomical committees, with communities gearing up for a month of worship and charitable acts.

Meanwhile, countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, and Palestine have also confirmed that Ramadan will begin on the same date after verified crescent moon sightings.
