Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Rao Abdul Karim reached Kacha area of Rahim Yar Khan and took over the command of Kacha, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
IG Punjab visited the police post Garhi Khair Muhammad Jhak, established in Kacha.
IG Punjab was briefed by Regional Police Officer (RPO) on the overall situation in Kacha area.
IG Punjab said dangerous and modern weapons were recovered from the Kacha dacoits.
The weapons recovered from the Kacha dacoits included rocket launchers, mortar shells, anti-aircraft guns, Kalashnikovs and a large number of bullets, IG Punjab said.
He said the dacoits used to attack the police with the same weapons.
During the Kachha operation, 68 dacoits were killed and 97 were arrested while injured, IG Punjab said.
IG Punjab said as many as 216 dacoits including 15 declared as having more than Rs100 million head money surrendered.
The surrendered dacoits are facing their cases according to the law, IG Punjab added.
The police are taking effective steps for the rehabilitation of the people of Kacha, IG said.
IG Punjab praised the high morale after meeting the personnel deployed on the Kacha fronts.
RPO Bahawalpur and DPO Rahim Yar Khan welcomed the IG Punjab on his arrival in Bhong.
RPO Ghazi Salahuddin informed about the achievements of Rahim Yar Khan District Police.
