District Administration has decided not to fix rates of kites and strings for Basant in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to sources, rates of kites and strings will be open administrative actions will be limited to size and material used.
Kite and string sellers will be able to sell goods at their own rates.
As per rates, tawagada of kites will be sold for Rs 150 to Rs 180, while one and a half tawagada will be sold for Rs 250 to Rs 270.
A quarter piece of string will be available for Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,500.
Further increase in rates of kites and strings is also expected according to demand.
Basant is coming after a long time, and people will be allowed to do business.
However, action will be taken against unregistered kite sellers.
Work will be done on fixing prices for Basant next year.
For selling kites and strings without QR codes, strict action will be taken.
Registered shopkeepers will be required to declare the remaining stock after Basant.
