Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has launched a mega project across the city aimed at preventing electricity theft and reducing high power losses, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The project involves replacing conductors on the city’s most loss-prone 100 high-loss feeders with modern aerial bundle conductors, a move expected to cost several million rupees.
Under the project, more than 1,300 kilometres of advanced conductors will be installed across key feeders, providing direct supply that will significantly help curb power theft.
The initiative covers major areas, including Barkat Market, BRB, Punjab University feeders, as well as residential and commercial zones like Nishat Colony, Wahga, Manga Mandi, Shahdara, and Ravi Road.
Hamza Town, Shahpur, Bedian Road, and other localities will also benefit from the new installations.
LESCO is implementing this project in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, aiming to modernise the electricity distribution system, improve efficiency, and minimize financial losses caused by illegal connections.
The installation of aerial bundle conductors on the city’s high-loss feeders is expected to enhance power reliability and reduce the frequency of outages.
