The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has called for the immediate construction of an overhead bridge or underpass connecting Lady Aitchison Hospital and Mayo Hospital, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
In a statement, PMA Lahore President Prof Shahid Malik said that there is currently no direct route between the hospitals.
During night hours, the main gates of both hospitals are often closed, forcing doctors, nurses, staff, and patients’ attendants to take long detours.
This situation is particularly challenging for on-call doctors who frequently need to move between the facilities.
He further noted that in emergencies, ambulances are forced to navigate via Shalmi Chowk or other distant routes to reach Mayo Hospital, causing critical delays and putting patients’ lives at risk.
"A dedicated bridge or underpass would allow timely medical care and make emergency services more effective."
