At least three people were killed and more than a dozen were injured after a massive fire broke out at Gul Plaza on MA Jinnah Road on Saturday.
According to KMC Fire Brigade officials, the fire erupted on the mezzanine ninth floor of the commercial building, prompting the immediate dispatch of fire tenders.
The blaze was later declared a third-degree fire due to its intensity and rapid spread.
Rescue officials confirmed that two people initially lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries and were shifted to nearby hospitals.
However, one of the injured later succumbed to burns, raising the death toll to three.
The deceased were identified as Asif, Faraz, and Aamir, rescue authorities said.
More than 20 fire brigade vehicles took part in the firefighting operation, which continued for hours as thick smoke engulfed the building and caused panic in the area.
Over 12 injured persons were being treated at hospitals, with some reported to be in critical condition.
The officials are investigating the cause of the fire, while rescue and cooling operations remain underway at the site.
