The action against Prosecutor General of Punjab Chaudhry Khaliquz Zaman under the Peda Act has been challenged.
The Lahore High Court rejected the request to stay the ongoing proceedings against the prosecutor general while the Punjab government, Secretary of Prosecution and others asked to respond to the plea.
The counsel for the Punjab government opposed the application in the court of Justice Ali Baqir Najafi saying instead of joining the inquiry, the petitioner approached the court.

The caretaker government has barred the prosecutor general from appearing in courts, the petitioner’s lawyer said, adding that the government of Punjab also stopped administrative work without any legal justification.
The caretaker government has given a show cause notice illegally, the petitioner said, stressing that the notification should be declared null and void.
