A key meeting on advancing the ferry service between Gwadar and Gulf States was held under the chairmanship of Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudary, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, focusing on ways to improve regional links and maritime trade, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the meeting held in Islamabad on Friday, strategic talks, focusing on launching ferry routes from Gwadar to several countries, took place.
A significant highlight of the meeting was strong private sector interest, with five companies presenting comprehensive proposals to participate in the forthcoming ferry service operations.
Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudary remarked, “The interest of the private sector in this initiative has witnessed a notable surge,” underscoring the growing confidence in Pakistan’s maritime potential.
He further emphasized that the service would play a key role in boosting regional connectivity and facilitating trade across the region.
The Federal Minister also held a telephonic conversation with the Chief Minister of Balochistan during the meeting, focusing on the vital role of provincial collaboration in the success of the project.
CM Balochistan, in return, ensured full support from the provincial government.
The participants also conducted a comprehensive review of the technical and financial aspects of ferry operations, examining the long-term sustainability and regional impact of the service.
Chaudary stated that the ferry service will enable the smooth movement of both passengers and cargo between Pakistan and the Gulf countries, greatly enhancing cross-border transportation.
He further noted that the initiative will elevate Gwadar’s standing on the international maritime map, reinforcing its strategic significance in global trade routes.
