Over 20 schools in Indian capital New Delhi received bomb threat emails on Friday morning, police said, adding that an operation was under way to comb the building while a probe was also initiated in this regard, reported Hindustan Times.
“Richmondd Global School in the Paschim Vihar area of Delhi receives a bomb threat. The fire department and the Delhi Police are on the spot,” news agency ANI reported, citing a Delhi Fire Service official.
Police said Abhinav Public School in Rohini Sector 3 has also received a bomb threat. The investigations into the authenticity and origin of the threat are currently underway.
According to police, the threatening email read: “Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms. The explosives are skilfully hidden, in black plastic bags. I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will gladly laugh when I will watch the news, only to see the parents show up at the school and to be greeted by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children,” reported ANI.

"You all deserve to suffer. I truly hate my life, I will commit suicide after the news, will slit my throat and slit my wrists. I was never truly helped, psychiatrists, psychologists, no one has ever cared and no one will ever care. You only care about medicating the helpless and clueless humans... You all deserve this. You deserve to suffer just like me," the letter continued.
This wave of threats comes just days after around 10 schools and one college in the city were targeted with similar warning emails, leading to evacuations and temporary closures.
Former Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Atishi slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the national capital, saying, “More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers would be going through. BJP controls all 4-engines of governance in Delhi, and is yet not able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking!”

Meanwhile, the Delhi Fire Services said its teams, along with police, rushed to the affected school campuses after receiving alerts.
On Wednesday, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya announced a precautionary closure. “Due to a potential bomb threat received this morning, and as advised by the police, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya will remain closed today, 16th July, 2025. A Bomb Disposal Squad is conducting a full sanitisation of the premises. We will keep you updated,” the school said in an email to parents.
Schools targeted in the earlier threats included St. Thomas School in Dwarka, Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, The Mother’s International School in Hauz Khas, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate.
Bomb disposal units, fire tenders, dog squads, and Delhi Police’s special staff were dispatched to these schools. No suspicious object has been found so far, according to officials.
St. Stephen’s College had also reported a bomb threat recently, with an email claiming an explosive was planted in its library. The area was evacuated, and no threat was confirmed. Police said no other college has reported further alerts as of now.
Earlier this week, schools in Chanakyapuri and Dwarka also received similar threats via email. However, no explosives were found during searches.
