A court in Lodhran has sentenced a rapist to 25 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on him, police said on Saturday.
According to police, the convict, identified as Waqas Arain, was found guilty of raping a 25-year-old woman.
In addition to the prison sentence and fine, the court directed the convict to pay Rs1.5 million in compensation to the victim.
Police said the case was registered in 2024 at Gilewal Police Station on the complaint of the victim's mother.
Following an investigation, the case was presented before the court, which handed down the conviction after completion of the trial.
