The security forces personnel foiled a major terrorist plot in a timely intelligence-based operation, destroying an explosives-laden car before it could be used in a suicide attack, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out in the Ghwakhwa area of Wana in South Waziristan Lower. The vehicle was packed with explosives intended for a major terrorist attack, the sources added.
As a result of the operation, the explosives-laden vehicle and a motorcycle were destroyed. One kharji terrorist was killed, while five others were injured in the action, the security sources said.
During the operation, the security forces demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, ensuring the safety of innocent civilians and protecting their lives and property, the sources added.
The security sources further said that the forces had kept the suicide vehicle under surveillance for three consecutive days and engaged it only after it had moved away from populated areas, minimizing the risk of civilian casualties.
The security sources said the successful operation reflects the unwavering resolve and operational readiness of the security forces.

Interior Minister commends security forces
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the security forces for foiling the terrorist attempt in Wana.
The forces saved the population of Wana and its surrounding areas from possible destruction, he said and added, the forces destroyed the explosives-laden vehicle and motorcycle before the attack.
The minister said with great skill, they ensured the safety of the lives and property of the citizens. “We salute the security forces for foiling the evil plan of the suicide attack ahead of time,” he added.
