A massive fire swept through a shopping mall in Karachi early Wednesday as the fire-fighters faced difficulties in their operation due to water shortage, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The blaze erupted on the roof of the Millennium Mall located in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and the spread down to fourth and third storeys of the shopping mall.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan said that they have been able to extinguish the fire in most part of the building but facing difficulties due to lack of water.
He further said 11 fire-brigade vehicles including two snorkels were taking part in the operation.
Humayun Khan said they will carry out a survey of the building after dousing the flames whether there was a fire safety system installed in the building or not. “Fire safety system is a must for shopping malls,” he added.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in another building in Karachi on Wednesday. The building was located at Shafiq Morr in Bengali Para.
Three fire-brigade vehicles were busy in putting out the blaze.
Fire erupts in furniture godown in DG Khan
A massive fire broke out in a furniture godown in Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday. The furniture shop was located at Jajaywala Chowk.
Rescue sources said that the fire erupted due to an electric short circuit, which later engulfed the three adjacent shops.
The fire also caused damage to two furniture shops and one grocery store. All the luggage was dumped as the old walls of shops collapsed
Soon after receiving the report, four fire vehicles and one rescue vehicle arrived at the scene and initiated the rescue operation, and brought the fire under control.
The Rescue team immediately contacted the WAPDA authorities and asked them to suspend the electric supply. No loss of life was reported from the area.
