The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved the verdict on the application filed by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and his advisor Muzammal Aslam against objections raised by the registrar’s office to their petition, seeking a meeting with former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to hold consultations over the provincial budget for the next financial year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The registrar’s office, on the occasion, submitted to the court a list of such cases.
In his report, the registrar said that the IHC had already formed a larger bench to hear pleas, seeking meetings with the incarcerated PTI founder.
However, KP CM’s counsel argued that this was the first application of its nature since the meeting was necessary to hold consultations with the former PM over the budget.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro said he would give an order in the case.
Also on Thursday, KP Advocate General (AG) Shah Faisal said he had told the IHC today that consultations with Imran Khan were necessary since the budget was related to over 40 million people of the province.
Speaking to reporters outside the IHC, he said that he had informed the court that there would be no political discussion with the former prime minister, and only his approval of the budget was required.
“This is the first application of its kind,” he said, and added he hoped that the judge would give a right decision and the meeting would take place.
