Interfaith moot in Makkah urges Ummah to shun internal differences, promote religious harmony

A two-day interfaith harmony conference was held in holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia which was attended by Islamic scholars from over the world Including Iran, India, Pakistan and other Islamic countries around the world, reported 24News HD TV channel.

A large number of scholars and delegates from various Islamic countries were also present in the moot including Maulana Arshad Madni from India and Shaikh Ahmed Al Mubalighi of Iran.

While Pakistan delegation comprised JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman, Abdul Gahfoor Haidari, Maula Tahir Ashrafi, chairman Ruet-e-Halal Committee Maula Abul Khabir Azad, Hafiz Abdul Kareem, Shah Awais Norani and Noor-ul-Haq Qadri attended the conference.

Addressing the conference, religious scholars stressed the need to eradicate menace of sectarianism from Islamic societies and called for the promotion of peace and harmony among the Ummah.

The international conference was organized by the orders of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, in Makkah.

During his presidential address to the conference, the Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), Dr. Muhammad Isa hailed Saudi government which was striving for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

Hissein Ibrahim Taha, the Secretary-General of OIC said Islam ordered peace and brotherhood. There was need to eradicate menace of sectarianism from Islamic states so that the Muslim Ummah can move forward together science and technology. He said Allah Almighty commands in the Holy Quran to avoid division therefore Muslim we should follow the command of Allah and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and avoid division and promote unity.

Hussain Ibrahim Taha, Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said that due to sectarianism, the enemies of Islam take advantage. He urged the Ummah to stay away from elements that spread sectarianism and end mutual differences.

JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rahman addressing the conference said that sectarianism was an evil that created conflicts among Muslims and it was obligatory for all Muslims to stand united against this menace as per the spirit of Islam.

JUI-F chief claimed that he always rejected sectarian violence in Pakistan and stressed the importance of refraining from sectarian fights and urged dialogue and debate between Muslims to establish atmosphere of mutual brotherhood.

Maulana Fazl also thanked King Slaman and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman for holding conference for the unity of Ummah.

Imam of Kaaba Shaikh Abdullah Awwad al Jehni opened the conference with recitation of verses of Holy Quran. Saudi officials as well as Ministers, Shaikh Abdul Rehman Al Sudais, Imam of Haramain attended the conference.
