Amid price hike, citizens continue to be burdened by taxes, duties and margins on petroleum products as government was collecting Rs 107.12 in the form of tax, duties and margins on per liter of petrol, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Likewise, the government is receiving Rs104.59 in taxes, duties and margins on per liter of high-speed diesel. A tax of Rs 70 per liter is levied on petrol and high-speed diesel. Rs15.28 is being levied on per liter petrol in the name of customs duty.
In high speed diesel, Rs15.78 tax is being imposed in the name of customs duty. Moreover, Rs8.87 is being received in the name of dealer’s commission. While Rs7.87 margin is being given to oil marketing companies. Rs 5.33 per liter is being charged in the name of inland freight equalization margin and Rs 2.30 per liter being charged in the name of IFEM. Currently, no sales tax is being collected on petrol and diesel.
The ex-refinery price of petrol before duty is Rs 148.51 per liter and the price of petrol for citizens is fixed at Rs 255.63 per liter. The ex-refinery price of high-speed diesel is Rs 154.06 per liter. The price of high-speed diesel for citizens is fixed at Rs 258.64 per liter.
