Seven police personnel, including a Station House Officer (SHO), were martyred while a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) sustained injuries during an operation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and District Police in the Paharpur Wanda Badh area of Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday.
According to details, Paharpur DSP Muhammad Adnan was injured in the operation, which was launched after security forces cordoned off the area based on intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorists.
During the operation, a wanted terrorist identified as Ahmed, son of Gul Din and a former Kochi group commander, was killed. The slain militant, belonging to the Dotani tribe of Panyala (Panj Tara), was involved in several serious incidents.
Officials said the terrorist had direct involvement in the martyrdom of the Panyala SHO and had also appeared in photographs released by militants on social media following the attack.
Authorities described the killing of the militant as a significant milestone in efforts to restore peace in the area and in the broader fight against terrorism.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed congratulated CTD and District Police personnel on the successful operation and announced rewards in recognition of their efforts.
