Extremely hot weather persists in most parts of the country as the daytime temperatures in these areas are well above the average, while the Met Office on Sunday said that there was a little chance of relief for the people in the form of rain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Temperatures in south Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above average, the Met Office added.
Lahore remains in grip of heatwave
Just like other parts of the country, Lahore, the city of gardens, remains in the grip of a heatwave as the Met Office said that the maximum temperature on Sunday might touch the 43 degrees Celsius mark.
The minimum temperature in the Punjab capital on Sunday morning was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius.
The level of moisture in the air stood at 48 per cent, while the breeze was blowing at the speed of five kilometers per hour.
Hot, humid weather persists in Karachi
The weather in Karachi remained hot and humid as the Met Office predicted that the maximum temperature in the city would go up to 37 degrees Celsius.
The humidity level in the air, which was recorded at 69 per cent, made people sweat profusely, while winds were blowing from a south-westerly direction at the speed of 13 kilometers per hour.
There were also reports of intense heat from other towns and cities of Sindh, including Larkana, Sukkur, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Thul, Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo and Hyderabad.
Temperatures rise in Balochistan
Just like other parts of the country, temperatures have also risen sharply in Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta.
Maximum temperature in several cities exceeded 40 degrees Celsius, while it was recorded at 50 degrees Celsius in Sibbi.
Heatwave in country to continue
The weather department forecast dry and extremely hot weather for most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
It said that the weather in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad would remain excessively hot during the day while it would remain partly cloudy in the evening and at night, with chances of rain at a few places.
The department said that most areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) would remain in the grip of intense heat.
It predicted extremely high temperatures for the central and southern parts of the province. “However, rain, accompanied by strong gales, is likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram, Khyber and Waziristan during the next 24 hours,” the department said.
On the weather in Punjab, the weather department said large swathes of the province would remain in the grip of a heatwave. “However, rain, accompanied by strong winds, is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat either in the evening or at night,” it forecast.
Dry and extremely hot weather was also forecast for Sindh and Balochistan, with dust-raising winds in some parts.
