Karachi to impose taxes on wedding halls

The Karachi metropolitan government decided to impose taxes on wedding halls under different heads, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to details, after receiving an application from the Wedding Halls Association, the Metropolitan government of Karachi finalised a plan to issue challans for receiving taxes under the heads of beautification, live cooking, barbecues, and parking from wedding halls.
These taxes will be received under the Sindh Local Government Act 2013, amended taxation rules, and after examining manpower, banquets, clubs, and ballrooms.
Wedding halls in districts West, Central, and East that will host more than 500 guests will pay Rs30,000 as tax.
 A Rs20,000 tax will be imposed on wedding halls that will host 500 guests, Rs10,000 for 300 guests, and a Rs5,000 tax will be imposed on wedding halls that will host 150 guests.
Wedding halls in Korangi and Malir that will host more than 500 guests will have to pay Rs25,000 as tax.
Rs15,000 will be received from wedding halls that will host 500 guests, Rs7,500 from 300 guests, and Rs5,000 from those wedding halls that will host only 150 guests.
