The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab (PDMA) has issued a province-wide alert warning of storms and rain expected across most districts from tonight through May 23.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, rainfall is likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, the Galiyat region, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad.
Rain has also been predicted in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin. Separate forecasts indicate showers in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang and surrounding areas.
PDMA Director General Umar Javed said that, in line with instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, alerts have been issued to all commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain vigilant and ensure preparedness.
Citizens have been advised to stay in safe places during thunderstorms to protect themselves from lightning and to avoid open areas during severe weather. Farmers have been urged to take precautionary measures in light of the forecast, while tourists traveling to northern areas have been asked to exercise caution.
