Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Freedom Holding Corporation Founder Chairman and CEO Timur Turlov in Islamabad on Monday.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.
During the meeting, the prime minister welcomed Turlov on his arrival in Pakistan and conveyed his best wishes to His Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan. He thanked Mr. Turlov for his keen interest in promoting business activities in Pakistan, including the establishment of Freedom Group branches, digital financial services and correspondent banking partnerships.
Sharif highlighted the government’s strong economic reform agenda and commitment to investor-friendly policies, saying the government is pursuing a vision of rapid economic growth and digital transformation.
The prime minister, citing Pakistan’s young population and the vastness of the rapidly expanding digital infrastructure in the country, invited Freedom Holding Corporation to play an active role in the development of Pakistan’s financial markets. The two sides also discussed potential cooperation in areas such as retail brokerage, Islamic banking, fintech innovation and capital market development.
Mr. Turlov, expressing his strong confidence in Pakistan’s economic future, said that his company is seriously evaluating long-term strategic investment opportunities that are aligned with Pakistan’s development priorities.
