A newly surfaced behind-the-scenes video from It Ends With Us has intensified scrutiny on actor-director Justin Baldoni as his legal feud with co-star Blake Lively continues to escalate.
The eight-minute clip, first obtained by the Daily Mail and filed in court by Baldoni’s own production company Wayfarer, was shot on May 23, 2023, during preparations for a bar scene.
In the footage, Baldoni is seen talking with Lively and co-star Jenny Slate when he utters the word “sexy” while looking in Lively’s direction.
Though his legal team insists the remark was “entirely unremarkable,” the video appears to show several crew members exchanging uneasy glances.
Attorneys argued that Lively was not “scantily clad,” noting she wore a fleece onesie like the rest of the cast.
Baldoni’s representatives also claimed Lively responded, “All good,” though her voice cannot be heard on tape.
They maintain the actor’s demeanor was neutral and not suggestive.
But it was Baldoni’s next moment that triggered widespread criticism online.
Turning to Slate, he said, “Sorry, I missed the sexual harassment training,” followed by a dramatic eye-roll directly into the camera.
His team described the remark as an apology “if his comment was inappropriate,” yet viewers interpreted it as trivializing workplace misconduct, especially significant given Baldoni’s dual role as director and employer on set.
Social media reactions have been harsh.
A source close to Baldoni’s team told the Daily Mail there was “nothing to hide” and that the clip was submitted voluntarily as evidence.
The timing of the footage is significant, arriving just days after Baldoni filed another exhibit: a deleted hospital-hallway scene showing Lively’s character grabbing his arms, giving him a quick kiss, and walking away smiling. His lawyers claim the moment was unscripted and added to every take with Lively’s approval.
Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation in December 2024, allegations he denies. Representatives for both actors have been contacted for comment.
Though It Ends With Us generated $148 million domestically and $350 million worldwide, the film’s success has been overshadowed by the increasingly public, increasingly contentious battle between its two leads.
