National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) taking action against three state-owned power Distribution Companies (DISCOs) over fatal accidents imposed a total fine of Rs57.5 million, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to report, fine was imposed on Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala power distribution companies for 30 deaths in their respective areas.
Nepra issued separate decisions imposing fines on LESCO, FESCO and GEPCO.
LESCO was fined Rs30 million, GEPCO Rs17.5 million and FESCO Rs10 million.
A total of 30 human deaths occurred in the areas of these companies in 2023-24.
Nepra directed all three DISCOs to pay fines within 15 days.
