The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified that no final decision has yet been made regarding the captaincy of the national ODI team amid reports suggesting Shaheen Afridi could replace Mohammad Rizwan as captain, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to a PCB spokesperson, the board had not yet announced the captain for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, and the matter remained under consideration.
The spokesperson further confirmed that head coach Mike Hesson had written a letter to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi regarding the captaincy issue, recommending that a joint meeting of the selection and advisory committees be convened to deliberate on the matter.
In response, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had referred the issue to both committees, which are expected to meet on October 20.
The final decision on the ODI team’s captaincy would be made during that meeting, the PCB spokesperson added.
