Markhor IT Solutions’ Mohammad Farooq smashed a record 14 sixes in a sensational 163 off 99 balls as the second round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I began on Friday, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
Farooq struck 11 fours and 14 sixes and reached his century off just 67 balls, surpassing Majid Khan’s record for most sixes by a Pakistani batter in a first-class innings.
It was Farooq’s third first-class century and second in successive matches.
He shared a 133-run opening stand with Hasnain Nadeem, who scored 36, before Atiq-ur-Rehman and Salman Khan Jnr took charge.
Atiq hit 142 off 137 balls, while Salman remained unbeaten on 106 as they added 217 for the fourth wicket. MIT Solutions finished the day at 476-4 against Khan Research Laboratories.
At Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Ghani dominated Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, dismissing them for 152 before reaching 192-2 at stumps.
Sharjeel Khan smashed 156 off 120 balls, including 25 fours and five sixes, for his 15th first-class century.
Ghani pacers Shoaib Akhtar Jnr and Khurram Shahzad shared nine wickets.
Shoaib claimed 5-34 for his fourth first-class five-wicket haul, while Khurram took 4-42.
At Peshawar’s Imran Khan Stadium, Kingsmen Academy captain Mohammad Tayyab Arif scored his maiden first-class century, making 105 off 110 balls.
His team was bowled out for 215 by OGDCL, with Mohammad Amir Khan taking 5-51 and Mohammad Hasnain 3-36. OGDCL ended the day at 57-3.
At Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, State Bank of Pakistan reached 278-9 against Pakistan Television. Hasan Raza scored 75, and Mohammad Ghazi Ghori made 66, while Rameez Aziz was unbeaten on 42.
Musa Khan and Amad Butt claimed three wickets each for PTV, while Haris Rauf took 2-73.
