Prime Minister’s Advisor on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan said the government will soon introduce a new auto policy offering incentives to all stakeholders, including auto parts manufacturers. 24NEWS HD TV reported on Friday.
Speaking to the media at the inauguration of the Pakistan International Auto Show 2026 at the Lahore Expo Centre, Haroon Akhtar said the government was taking measures, in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision, to boost auto parts exports and facilitate the local industry’s access to international markets.
He said Pakistan’s automotive industry had significant potential for growth and exports, adding that the auto show was providing a platform to promote local manufacturing, innovation and investment.
The three-day exhibition is being held at the Lahore Expo Centre with participation from domestic and international manufacturers, business leaders and delegates. It is being organized in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), its strategic partner, and the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM).
Haroon Akhtar directed SMEDA to provide comprehensive support to PAAPAM and small and medium-sized enterprises associated with the automotive sector to help them access new domestic and international markets.
Speaking on the occasion, SMEDA Chief Executive Officer Nadia Jahangir Seth said the automotive sector had strong potential to drive industrial growth through SMEs.
Welcoming the partnership, Pakistan Auto Show 2026 Convener Salman Saleem said the collaboration would strengthen efforts to increase SME participation and promote local manufacturing under the “Make in Pakistan” vision.
A conference will also be held on September 19 to discuss a roadmap for the future of the automotive sector.
