Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi Wednesday visited Kot Lakhpat Jail and got released 61 prisoners involved in minor crimes a couple of days before Eid.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the Abdul Aleem Foundation paid Rs 110 million as fine and dues owing the prisoners.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister urged them to go for a fresh start and play their due role in social betterment.
Mohsin Naqvi also gave Eid (cash) to the released prisoners. He advised them not to fight with anyone in future and lead their lives as responsible citizens.
Mohsin Naqvi announced a special package for jail employees on the pattern of Police Shaheed Package. He said that the salary package of jail employees will also be reviewed.
CM said that more relaxation would be given to the prisoners in the meetings with their relatives and friends during the Eid holidays.
Punjab IG Jails and Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation Chief Executive Officer Brig (rtd) Khalid Bashir also addressed the ceremony.
Provincial Information Minister Aamir Mir, Additional Chief Secretary Interior, CCPO Lahore, Secretary Information, Commissioner Lahore Division, IG Prisons, Deputy Commissioner Lahore and concerned officials attended the event.
