Despite the wheat harvest in Punjab, the price of flour has increased sharply as private companies have started selling flour at high prices under the name of the brand, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Taking advantage of the brand, private companies are selling flour at Rs180 per kilogram.
The government price of wheat is Rs3,500 per 40 kg, while private companies are selling flour at Rs7,200 per 40 kg.
At the local level, wheat grinding costs Rs400 to Rs500 per 40 kg.
In the local market, 40 kg of flour after milling costs is Rs 4000.
After milling, flour that costs Rs98 to Rs108 per kilogram is being sold at Rs180 per kilogram by private companies.
On the other hand, roti disappeared from tandoors, and where the roti was available, the roti was being sold for Rs20 instead of Rs14, with an increase of Rs6 per roti.
Tandoor owners have increased prices on their own, ignoring the official price list.
New prices have been implemented in different areas of the city.
Tandoor owners said that expenses have increased significantly due to the increase in the prices of LPG gas and flour.
After the increase in the price of LPG, it is compulsory to increase the price of roti, tandoor owners said.
