Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has criticised the United States’ approach towards Iran, saying any move towards war would go against the wishes of the American public, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the report, in her remarks, Kamala Harris said the decision to pursue conflict with Iran did not reflect public opinion in the United States. She argued that Americans had little interest in becoming involved in another overseas war.
She also alleged that Benjamin Netanyahu had influenced the situation, claiming that the Israeli leadership had pushed Washington towards confrontation with Tehran.
She further said that former President Donald Trump had been drawn into a conflict that lacked public support. She suggested that such a move risked deepening divisions within the United States at a time of heightened global tensions.
Kamala Harris, a senior member of the Democratic Party, previously served as the 49th vice president of the United States from 2021 to 2025 under President Joe Biden. She was the first woman, as well as the first African American and Asian American, to hold the office.
Before her vice presidency, she represented California in the United States Senate from 2017 to 2021 and served as the state’s attorney general from 2011 to 2017. She was also the Democratic Party’s nominee in the 2024 presidential election.
Her comments come amid growing debate within the United States over its foreign policy direction and the potential consequences of escalating tensions with Iran.
