Peshawar Zalmi crushed Quetta Gladiators by 118 runs in the 29th match of the Pakistan Super League season 11 at the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday.
After being asked to bat first, Peshawar Zalmi posted a commanding 255 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a daunting target of 256, the Gladiators collapsed for 137 in 18.1 overs, handing Zalmi a comfortable victory by a large margin.
Quetta Gladiators never recovered from early breakthroughs and sustained pressure from Zalmi’s bowling attack.
Bevon Jacobs top-scored for Quetta with 34 runs, while Shamil Hussain made 21 and Dinesh Chandimal added 19.
Captain Saud Shakeel managed 12, with the rest of the batting lineup failing to offer resistance as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Lower-order batter Alzarri Joseph remained unbeaten on 19, but the effort was not enough to prevent a heavy defeat.
For Peshawar Zalmi, Muhammad Basit and Ali Raza starred with three wickets each, while Aaron Hardie picked up two wickets. Sufiyan Muqeem and Michael Bracewell chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Zalmi were powered by a brilliant unbeaten century from captain Babar Azam, who struck 100 off 52 balls, hitting four sixes and six boundaries.
He was well supported by Kusal Mendis, who smashed a quickfire 83 featuring three sixes and 10 fours.
Other contributors included Farhan Yousuf, who scored 19, and Mohammad Haris with 16, while Aaron Hardie remained unbeaten on 26 to finish the innings strongly.
For Quetta Gladiators, Alzarri Joseph, Abrar Ahmed, and Usman Tariq each claimed a wicket.
Quetta Galadiators won the toss and decided to field first against Peshawar Zalmi.
