Lahore children have put into a vulnerable situation as they are being administered a wrong type of polio vaccine.
According to details, Lahore children are being administered with Poliovirus Type-2 vaccine whereas the poliovirus found in the provincial capital is of Type-1.
All the three cases surfaced in Lahore this year were of Poliovirus Type-1 while the poliovirus found in the sewerages of different areas of the city is also of Type-1.
But instead, the government has administered Type-2 vaccine to Lahore’s children that has raised chances of increased polio cases in the city.
Poliovirus Type-2 has been eliminated from all around the world in 2016. However, few cases of Poliovirus Type-2 had emerged in Rawalpindi and Muzaffargarh.
Consequently, the government administered the Poliovirus Type-2 vaccine in the whole province, leaving children vulnerable to Poliovirus Type-1.
