The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf core committee met on Friday to take up the ongoing political situation and the matters related to the party founder’s imprisonment, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

The legal team briefed the meeting on the progress of the cases against the ex-PM and the party founder

The meeting mulled over the matters related to the ex-PM’s appeal hearing on August 22 at Islamabad High Court.

In a statement, the party said the core committee also deliberated upon the up recent interview of Balochistan National Party-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

It added the meeting expressed concerns about the missing persons' issue raised by Akhtar Mengal and stressed the need for resolving it at the earliest.

Moonis Elahi too joined the meeting at a special invitation and the party core heaped praise on Parvez Elahi for what it called standing firm on his principal stance, the statement said.

The participants reiterated their resolve to continue with the party struggle. They alleged several leaders including Mohsin Leghari, Nawabzada Mansoor Ali Khan, Niaz Hussain, Saifuddin Khosa, and Faisal Niazi have been targeted.

They claimed that the party is being weakened under a strategy. However, they added that such acts cant shatter their struggle for the cause.
