Comedian and actress Ruby Anum has set social media abuzz after her fiery appearance on Sabih Sumair’s podcast, where she openly roasted veteran artistes, including Bushra Ansari, Asma Abbas, and their contemporaries.

Known for her sharp wit and blunt takes, Ruby pulled no punches as she questioned why senior stars continue to actively post about their lifestyles and fashion choices.

During the podcast, Ruby mocked Bushra Ansari for frequently sharing travel vlogs and updates about her day-to-day life.

“Bushra Ansari is my favorite … I like her, but this is a lie,” Ruby said.

She added: “She should rest now. She’s not at an age where she should constantly be filming vlogs while packing her luggage for abroad and saying, ‘I’m packing up for abroad.’ Stop it! You’re too old to continue now; you’re even older than our mothers.”

She took aim at Bushra’s sister, Asma Abbas, while acknowledging her respect and courtesy. “Asma Abbas is a great person, she respects me and gives me protocol. I can’t say this to her face, but why are you people so over?

What is it that doesn’t let you stop from doing such over-the-top things?

Why go for matching shoes with every outfit, or wear so much makeup that doesn’t even suit you? They don’t even have such beautiful faces.”

Ruby’s remarks went viral, sparking debate among fans.

Some viewers felt she was brutally honest and only voiced what many secretly think, while others called her remarks ageist and disrespectful toward icons who have contributed decades to the entertainment industry.

The comedian also revisited past controversies involving senior actress Shugufta Ejaz shortly after the loss of her husband, which many felt was insensitive.

Also, Ruby shared her personal journey. She spoke about the hardships she faced in marriage and the challenges she endured as a woman in the industry.

She also shed light on her foray into Indian cinema, recalling how fellow comedian Nasir Chinyoti introduced her to Bollywood.

Ruby humorously revealed that she initially went to India intending to reject an offer, but ended up performing in Punjabi comedy films like Chal Mera Putt 2 and 3, where her comic timing won appreciation from cross-border audiences.

Turning to the younger generation, Ruby had surprisingly kind words for actress Hania Aamir, praising her beauty and talent.

“Hania is too pretty… she deserves stardom and progress. She’s exactly the kind of actress who should get movie roles. I like her and I wish her the best.”

Ruby Anum herself is no stranger to fame. A senior actress from Lollywood, she has been part of the media industry for over three decades, working alongside legendary PTV actors.

Her television credits include dramas like Gustakhiyan, and satirical shows such as Khabarnak and Gugu Café.

Her standout performances in Chal Mera Putt 2 and 3 further cemented her status as a versatile comedian.
