Ageless beauty Sadia Imam has opened up about the difficult side of the entertainment industry.
In a industry like media, where stars and actors are competing every second, Sadia Imam, recalled how she lost acting opportunities because she did not attend parties or socialise with certain industry circles.
Speaking during an interview with Nida Yasir, Sadia said she once overheard some of her own colleagues discussing her while she was about to enter a room.
According to Sadia, the colleagues were telling producers and casting members not to cast her because she did not party or go out with them.
She also reminisce about them saying that someone else should be chosen because Sadia “doesn’t go to parties” and that they wanted someone who would socialise, go to clubs and spend time with them.
Sadia said the incident deeply hurt her because the same people who spoke warmly to her face and called her their closest friends were discussing her replacement behind her back.
She also remembered advice given to her by her father, who told her that it was better to have empty pockets than to keep “counterfeit coins” around her.
The actress said she initially struggled to understand what her father meant, but experiences in the industry eventually made the meaning clear to her.
Despite feeling hurt after hearing the conversation, Sadia said she chose not to confront those colleagues and instead prayed for their happiness.
The actress has remained a familiar face on Pakistani television through dramas including Jab Jab Dil Miley, Colony 52 and Dorhi, while also working as a television host.
