The Election Commission of Pakistan has released instructions regarding the submission of nomination papers for the general elections scheduled to be held on February 8, 2024, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a notification issued by the Election Commission on Tuesday, a candidate can submit a maximum of five nomination papers with different seconders, the fee for submission of nomination papers for the seat of National Assembly is Rs30,000, and for the provincial assembly Rs20,000.
The candidate must be a citizen of Pakistan and the age of the candidate must not be less than 25 years at the time of submission of nomination papers.
Along with the nomination papers, the candidate must attach a certified copy of the identity card of his recommender and endorser. The candidate shall attach the income tax returns of the last three years with the nomination papers.
A candidate for the seat of the National Assembly should be a voter from any place in Pakistan, but a candidate for the seat of the provincial assembly should be from the respective province.
For the seats reserved for women in the National Assembly, the candidate must be a voter of the respective province.
According to the Election Commission, the details of the candidate's eligibility and disqualification are listed in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, the candidate for general seats must be a voter of the respective constituency, while the candidate for non-Muslim seats must be a voter from any part of Pakistan.
The Election Commission has said that every candidate should open a special account in any scheduled bank for election expenses and if the account already exists, enter the details of the bank account in the nomination papers. While the affidavit along with the nomination papers will be verified by the candidate on stamp paper.
According to the Election Commission, along with his/her nomination papers, the candidate must write a description of the assets of himself/herself, his/her spouse, and the dependent children.
According to the ECP notification, if there is some box containing a question not related to the candidate in the nomination papers, NA should be written there.
The candidate must paste his/her recent picture at the specific place on the nomination papers.
It should be noted that the nomination papers can be submitted to the office of the concerned Returning Officers from December 20 to 23.
The priority list of candidates for the reserved seats will be submitted on December 22.
Nomination papers will be collected from the offices of the Returning Officers today, sources in Election Commission informed.
Meanwhile, today is the last day of the two-day training of the DROs across the country.
On behalf of the Election Commission, the training process is ongoing at the divisional level across the country.
According to the ECP, 859 Returning Officers and 144 District Returning Officers are being trained across the country by the Election Commission.
