Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat was released from Kot Lakhpat jail on Monday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing media persons after his release in Lahore, Marwat expressed determination, stating, "We will contest the general elections with verve."
Earlier reports had indicated that the Lahore High Court (LHC) had issued an order for the release of Sher Afzal Marwat. He was detained by the local administration under section 3 of MPO.
The court, under the oversight of Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry, had entertained an application challenging Marwat's detention and subsequently demanded responses from all involved parties.
During the proceedings, Marwat had asserted that he faced "misbehavior" during his time in jail.
The court, after due consideration, instructed the deputy commissioner to facilitate Marwat's release upon the submission of a surety bond.
The release comes amidst legal battles, with the petition arguing that Marwat's detention was unlawful.
