The Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M-11) was closed on Friday due to dense fog, the Motorway Police Central Region said, advising motorists to avoid unnecessary travel and follow safety precautions.
According to Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson and interpreter for the Motorway Police Central Region, the decision to close the motorway was taken to protect the lives and property of road users amid poor visibility conditions.
He warned that lane violations during fog could lead to serious and dangerous accidents, urging drivers to strictly follow lane discipline.
Motorists were advised to prefer travel during daytime urban hours, noting that safer travel timings in foggy conditions are between 10am and 6pm.
The spokesperson also stressed the use of fog lights, maintaining safe speeds, and keeping a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. He further urged the public to avoid non-essential travel until weather conditions improve.
Road users seeking guidance or assistance were advised to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.
