Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in New York, reaffirming Pakistan’s full support for the UN’s role in addressing global challenges, 24NewsHD TV reported.
During the meeting, UN Secretary-General appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to international peace and security, particularly through its UN peacekeeping missions. He also recognised Pakistan’s active engagement at the United Nations.
Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and peace, highlighting the country's role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He emphasised the need for a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
Both sides strongly condemned Israeli atrocities against Palestinians, with Pakistan reaffirming its unwavering support for a two-state solution, ensuring a viable, contiguous, and sovereign Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Additionally, Ishaq Dar raised concerns over cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan and sought UN support in countering threats within and from Afghan territory. He also emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and advancing regional connectivity projects for economic development.
