K-Electric on Wednesday submitted a petition to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), seeking a reduction in electricity charges under fuel adjustment charges (FAC) for December 2024, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported.
In its petition, K-Electric has requested NEPRA to lower the electricity tariff by Rs4.95 per unit, offering significant relief to consumers struggling with high power bills.
NEPRA has scheduled the hearing for February 26, where it will examine the request and review the necessary data before making a final decision. If approved, this adjustment could result in a relief of over Rs4 billion for Karachi’s electricity consumers.
The regulatory authority will conduct a thorough scrutiny of all relevant financial data before announcing its final verdict on the proposed reduction.
